Afternoon tea at Colwick Hall Hotel
23 July 2022
Booked this a we received a Time Together voucher from my daughter , wasn’t really anything available that floated our boat, so decided to book an afternoon tea at Colwick Hall, unpon booking we was advised that this could not be used for weekend bookings, not of to a good start as now needed to book a days holiday from work which I ended up doing, arrived at the venue in which you have to pay extra for parking? This wasn’t mentioned anywhere until we got to the venue, walked into the impressive looking Colwick Hall Reception door, and was politely greeted by the receptionist and advise where to go for the afternoon tea. Walked in to the Byron’s Brasserie where the event was waiting for us, as soon as we walked the room supervisor/ manager made contact and advise she would be with us shortly, which indeed she did and escorted us to our table, this was positioned by a separating wall, the tables was dressed with table cloths and sugar was in packets( most other places we have been dress the tables and have suger lumps in a bowl with a lace doilies covering them with sugar tongs placed on top or on a small plate besides it. We was asked if we would a drink, after travelling 2 hrs a cup of tea was in the order of wanting, arrived after about 5-10 mins we was brought a tea pot each and cup and saucers ( as I said before we have done quite a few afternoon teas and these are normally china cups and saucers, and most times the tea pot as well.. not this time old commercial crockery where the tea pots was well stained down the spout, not sure they had see a good wash to be honest, after another 10 mins the sandwiches and cakes arrived on a 3 tier cake stand, it looked ok, but nothing special, the best thing was the scone, that was still warm and tasted lovely, some of the cakes had been in the fridge and this caused the pastry to become soft?, this placed just seemed to operate on a quick turn around and certainly wasn’t special. Would I go again and is it VFM? No,

Afternoon Tea
16 October 2019
Started well with the lovely location, driveway and building. Seated at a table with a window view, served tea (no teaspoons in the saucer) with mismatched crockery. Why? Would much prefer a proper matching set. The sandwiches were very meagre, very tiny fingers and only 3 each (possibly 1 slice of bread each) but were tasty. We were also served with a small cup of soup which we did not enjoy with the afternoon tea, but would have been great with evening dinner. Would rather have more sandwiches instead which I did mention and the waitress did bring us a small plate with extra sandwiches which we appreciated. The cakes and scones were again small but delicious. The ladies toilets need an overhaul and the cubicle doors have a huge space at the bottom and top which didn't feel very private.

Disappointing
10 April 2019
No warm greeting whatsoever. Had been here before, so had expectations of a better experience. 1 tiny stainless Tea pot each, with one tea bag in each. Odd china cup, saucer, plates etc.. 1 small scone each which was very dry. 1 miniature part filled 'open' pot of jam between 2 of us. Lukewarm pea and mint soup in a small cup ( not expected for afternoon tea ).. Cake choice disappointing...2 small squares of cake each with a muffin..

Good service, nice ambiance and historic setting. Good choice of tea and decent food. All things considered, a good experience.

Unexpected surprise gift
03 August 2018
Had a fabulous afternoon with my friend at Colwick Hall . I received my gift voucher for Christmas from my family and it was nice to be able to choose a day to suit . The staff were very welcoming and didn't hurry us and it was pleasant to just get away from the busy life and enjoy the amazing sandwiches , small cups of soup, delicious cakes and coffee and not forgetting the champagne, which was a good starter! All in all a lovely experience and would certainly love to do it again.
