Great money saving option using vouchers
04 November 2021
We looked at comparison websites and got a price for two nights with breakfast for two at the Fat Lamb and then realised we could actually book using the buyagift voucher scheme which saved us £54 overall off the cheapest price we could get. You get the voucher instantly if you opt for an e-voucher. The staff at the Fat Lamb were really helpful when I rang and checked whether they took the voucher I also checked they had gluten free options for breakfast and evening meal as my friend is coeliac which they did. They also check that there are not too many voucher offers being used that week and then let you know you are in. This was all done very quickly over the phone and we were accepted on our first choice dates. The Fat Lamb is really good and the breakfasts were ample and delicious. The money we saved enabled us to have a tasty evening meal at the Fat lamb as well. Dogs are really welcome so that’s a bonus. Our friend also came and stayed for free in her motorhome. They have 4 slots you can stay in as long as you have a meal at night. The Fat Lamb itself is very quirky and has lots of historic motoring parts everywhere in the pub and lots of interesting antique items hanging on the walls . You can also do a walk from their doorstep - down to or past the nature reserve and then an all field walk into Ravenstonedale where there are two pubs (both dog friendly and with fires) and a different path back along the small river past the stepped waterfall although we did choose to walk the last bit on the quiet lane as it was starting to get dark (spent too much time at the pub in Ravenstonedale ??). The online OS map has many other walks starting from the doorstep of the Fat Lamb. I tried to post a picture but the mb size is too small for an iPhone

Area beautiful, building stonework fantastic and sympathetic to local area. Inside decor very dated to 1970,s. Food , although there is plenty on the plate The food was average and expensive for the area. Better valve could be found in the nearby village. Room was clean and serviced daily.

Amazing break
07 May 2018
We chose to spend our gift on the Fat Lamb 2 night stay as they allow dogs. We've had our rescue dog for four years now and hate leaving him with friends when we go away, so it meant a lot to find such a special place that also allowed dogs. The inn itself is beautiful. The room was spotless and very comfortable, with a bath and shower. There is a country walk that begins on the grounds of the inn, and I highly recommend it. Along with the views, the best thing about the stay was the food. We were thoroughly spoilt, all meals were exceptional, and the price was undeniably reasonable for the amount and the quality. As it was bank holiday, and the first sunny days we've had so far this year, we whiled away our afternoons in the sunny beer gardens, both front and back of the inn. We met great people and experienced quality service, even when the staff were staggeringly busy! Can not fault this stay - we all loved it.

Relaxing break

The inn is handy for the Lakes and the Dales. The room was comfortable with a nice view over the fells. The food in the bar and restaurant was very good. The décor is perhaps a little dated but not really an issue for us. The staff were all courteous and helpful.

Yorkshire Dales complete with sheep!
01 May 2016
The Fat Lamb is a comfy pub/accommodation ( 12 rooms) situated between Sedburgh and Kirkby Stephen, right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. So many sheep with lambs at this time of the year and a truly rural experience away from it all. Rooms are comfortable , if a little shabby, as you would expect with an old Inn. All facilities available and everything is clean. New menu on offer, which has a great choice, and needless to say, lamb is to the fore. We took a local walk to Ravenstonedale and motored up into the Dales to experience the vast areas of untouched landscapes. Truly magnificent!

Absolutely Perfect

The Fat Lamb: The location is stunning, set amongst hills and rolling countryside. The staff from receptionists to bar staff and waiting staff are professional, yet friendly. Our room -no.10 - was lovely and warm warm, the bed was very comfortable from the mattress to the pillows - we slept better than we do at home. As for the food - I don't have enough adjectives to describe it - from the delicious wholesome breakfast to the amazing evening meals, we couldn't fault it. Delicious meals, nicely presented - and the desserts are heavenly. You will not be disappointed with the Fat Lamb Inn.

Springtime break
07 April 2016
Wonderful springtime break in a fine old English inn. Roaring open fire, Black Sheep on tap, extensive menu to cater for all tastes. Proper kippers for breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of good walks from the inn to work up an appetite for a hearty evening meal. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable short break in a beautiful part of the country, and the Fat Lamb was the ideal place to come home to.
